Habitat and Health Implications
Natural habitat includes decaying plant material, roots, seeds, nuts, grasses,
twigs, water, and soil. Found frequently growing on indoor environmental
surfaces. May be identified on surfaces by tape lifts, tease mounts from bulk
samples, and in air by culturable and spore trap samples. The species can
produce Trichothecin and other Trichothecenes mycotoxins that may be
associated with disease in humans and other animals. Reported to be
allergenic. There are no reports of infection in humans or animals.
