| Sporobolomyces Habitat and Health Implications |
| Can be found on tree leaves, soil, rotting fruit and other plant materials. Can be detected in air samples. Frequently encountered indoors in water tanks, humidifiers, drain pans, ect. It is reported to be allergenic causing hay fever, asthma and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. It has been reported as a cause of dermatitis. Other disease associations are unclear. No reports of toxin production. |
