| Rusts Habitat and Health Implications |
| They are plant pathogens and can infect grasses, flowers, trees and other living plant materials. Rusts do not grow indoors unless their host plants are present indoors. Rust spores are distinctive and readily identifiable on tape lifts and spore traps. They may be found in house dust. It is reported to be allergenic causing hay fever and asthma. No reports of human infection. Production of mycotoxins is not known. |
