| Found in soil and plant materials as saprobes. Found indoors on painted walls (including the shower) and on a variety of other surfaces including cement, rubber, wood, wool, and foods. Occasionally pathogenic to plants and humans, but infection from this fungus is extremely rare. Some species are linked to occasional eye, skin, and subcutaneous infections. It has been reported to be a common allergen causing hay fever, asthma and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Production of mycotoxins is not know. |
